Reza Moridi – Minister of Training, Colleges & Universities
On behalf of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, I would like to offer my greetings to everyone taking part in SIPO’s Power of Ideas Conference.
I want to congratulate SIPO on their efforts to help young people find meaningful employment. Since SIPO was founded in 2011, thousands of youth have been impacted for the better through workshops, networking events, mentorship programs and this annual conference. By helping young people embark on careers that match their goals and aspirations, SIPO is contributing to the quality of life for everyone in Ontario.
The Government of Ontario is also working hard to help the newest generation of university and college graduates. I am pleased that our Youth Employment Fund exceeded its initial goal by helping more than 25,000 young people take part in job opportunities that developed their skills and gave them valuable work experience. We have also renewed our commitment to youth employment by continuing to invest in our overall Youth Jobs Strategy. These programs will not only help our young people find meaningful work, but also encourage them to become the entrepreneurs and job creators of the future.
I look forward to working with SIPO as we both help Ontario’s postsecondary students realize their dreams.
Please accept my best wishes for a successful conference.

SIPO Foundation works to support youth from all backgrounds to enable these young people to have access to essential information through mentoring programs, conferences and forums for which I have had the distinct pleasure of participating in.

It’s a beautiful thing to be a part of an event that is dedicated to inspiration. SIPO Foundation brings people together to share life lessons. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to experience a day filled with speakers and young individuals who offered their kindness, insight & wisdom.

Students shouldn’t feel lost or trapped in their current situations. We can all make opportunities for ourselves. It’s a matter of finding our passions and believing in ourselves. That’s why I love the passion and information provided by SIPO foundation.
As a result of volunteering, I was provided more than just the opportunity to help the community overcome under/unemployment by developing the SIPO Workshop program. Being apart of SIPO Foundation helped me learn skills that are not taught in school and it has exposed me to facets of business such as management, strategy, leadership, marketing, finance and so much more. I cannot thank the executive team enough for the providing me with invaluable experience and mentorship. I highly recommend volunteering with SIPO Foundation if you are looking to make an impact and grow as leader within your community.
“Attending the SIPOconference: THE POWER OF IDEAS did a lot for me.
(1) It sparked a great deal of ideas and thoughts which I got extremely excited about.
(2) It motivated me to take action on those ideas and thoughts. After hearing and seeing the powerful speakers I simply said to myself, “what am I waiting for, and if they can do it why not me?”
(3) It was an engaging event that gave me perspective. I got the chance to learn and connect both directly and indirectly with the speakers. As a result of my attendance to the Power of Ideas Conference I have pitched, launched, and produced my own TV show (entitled UYE), which is now currently airing on Rogers TV Mississauga.”
“The SIPO Foundation is about understanding what your obstacles are and turning your ideas into reality. It was created to help young people become leaders. I’m excited that producer and songwriter Peter Linseman, rapper Wali ‘Flo’ Shah and myself have created this year’s SIPO anthem with video shot by Joel Kim. The world premier of the song and video will also be presented at this year’s SIPOconference: The Power of Ideas Conference on June 22, 2013. It’s your time to shine!”
“Ever since I’ve gotten involved with the SIPOfoundation, I have been more focused and driven to work harder for the things I believe in, and want to see in my life. SIPO is a great stepping stone for me, as it has offered me great mentors and opportunities which can open key doors for me down the road. Leadership is often about providing the right opportunities for others at the right time, and that is exactly what SIPO does, every single day.”

“What appeals to me about SIPO is their focus on inspiring people to take action, have a positive impact and give back to the community. Every one of us has dreams, things that we are passionate about, but rarely do we feel empowered to follow through. By bringing in real people with real stories, SIPO demonstrates that we have the potential to change that. It was after one of SIPO’s annual conferences that a spark went off and I decided to start my own venture, STORM (Sparking Thoughts of Radical Minds). It is no surprise that I approached SIPO as a partner on this journey. In the end, all I would like to say is Take a risk, don’t fear failure and be bold!”
“In 2013, I was given the amazing opportunity to attend SIPOConference. I was very excited to hear the stories the speakers had prepared. The morning went by quickly and each speech was fascinating. It was inspiring to hear their diverse stories about how they got to where they were. After the conference, I also enjoyed networking with the speakers and personally, learning more about their journeys.
Prior to attending SIPOConference, I had been working on a project called SWEB. Operations were moving smoothly and I was very satisfied with where we were. It was only after the event that I wanted to take my initiative to the next level. I realized I had become too comfortable with where it was, rather than building it to where it could be.
All in all, I am really grateful to have attended SIPOConference. Although the event was incredible, I believe what was more important happened after. SIPOConference instilled me with the confidence to pursue my ideas and passions whole-heartedly. It successfully promoted the idea that anything and everything can be achieved.”
“This was undeniably one of the most memorable events (SIPOconference) I have been to. Every epic story was emotionally stirring and overly insightful. I was particularly impressed and inspired with everyone’s passion to transform their lives in such a way that fits exactly into what they wanted instead of accepting life as it comes. I believe it conveyed an important message that anyone can change to make a significant difference in their lives and in others. For me, it brought a great sense of wellbeing and a burning desire to achieve excellence in my life.”
Power of Ideas – SIPO Conference in 2011 was the beginning of good things to enter into my life. Little did I know, it would speak into my life/dream. I am not an entrepreneur and never wanted to be one either but a strange dream few months before the conference stirred up much passion within me that I needed the motivation that I lacked and doubt started to creep if I should follow it. Sitting in the conference could not have been better timing. Listening to this individual speak right into my life & my situation left me in AWE. I remember writing this in the free journal that was provided (which I still keep as an inspiration)- I CAN DO THIS – My passion for people & cooking -Personal Chef & Cooking Instructor. I left the conference with a renewed spirit within me – confident and belief that I can do this. It had inspired me! Today, I have started to build my dream into reality. Thank you SIPO for bringing encouragement & hope into my life.

“The SIPO Conference 2014 was one of the most inspirational things that I have had the privilege to experience. Everyone was very humble and welcoming to me. I had the opportunity to mingle and connect with people and that gave a chance to network and build connections. I was looking forward to hearing and meeting all the amazing speakers. I thought that Emma and Julia were very inspiring individuals who shared their most recent stories of providing children who could not afford books with books. Their contribution using book drives definitely helps children to learn and love to read. I loved Paulina’s inspirational speech because it had so much meaning and depth. I really appreciated that she shared her personal life with everyone which is very hard to do but very effective on the audience. And all of the other speakers have also made a strong impact in my life.
I was impatiently waiting for Stuart Knight because I feel as thought he is one of the best speakers I have seen. I have been to a lot of events where he was a keynote speaker and I have always loved him. He is the type of speaker you want to listen to because he grasps your attention so quickly and holds on to the audience till the end of his speech. His speech was very inspiring and I would like to be a speaker just like him one day because the amount of enthusiasm he brings on stage is incredible. Over all, this was an outstanding conference that made me rethink my life and make strong decisions about my life that will be good for me in the future. I taught me to follow my dreams and do what makes me happy. It also made me want to give more to people and do things for people in my community as well as communities around the world. I will hold on to these inspiration and use it in my future ventures. I would like to humbly thank all the speakers for coming out and sharing a piece of what they wanted to say to us. I was one of the most important experiences for me and I am very glad that I went the the SIPO Conference 2014.”
“My first reaction when I heard about SIPO’s recent event, “How to Build Your Brand and Showcase Your Professional Image”, was sincere excitement and a sense of “finally…there’s an event like this that I can go to!” — a branding workshop targeted for my generation. As a young professional, one of my main career objectives is defining who I am and what I represent – something that I have been stumbling towards for some time.
What the SIPO event provided me was invaluable — access to leading experts and dedicated coaches and inspiration and fresh ideas from others who also attended the event. By far, the biggest value I got out of the event was that it helped me take that first step in developing my personal brand. This might seem like a small thing, but it has already proven invaluable as I try to communicate my value in my professional life. I am very grateful to the SIPO team for hosting free events such as this one and I hope they can expand their reach in the future. Young professionals in Toronto need events like this.”

“The SIPO conference was truly a life-changing experience for me. At first, I sort of felt out of place with there being many adults but when I saw that there were also youth my age, it definitely made things much more comfortable. I really enjoyed the opportunity to network with a variety of people who come from different places and backgrounds. It was interesting to hear about the different dreams that people were embarking upon. I was kind of hesitant at first, to approach people that I didn’t know but when I found people who had similar interests and goals as me, I wasn’t nervous to interact with them. I feel like this conference really improved my networking skills and helped me meet a lot of inspiring people.
The speakers that day really impacted me with their stories of overcoming adversity in order to reach their dreams. Each individual had something different to bring to the table therefore, I was constantly excited to hear what each had to say. I also felt like I could really relate to the challenges that each individual once encountered in their lives. I really liked the fact that I could talk to the speakers after their speeches and get more insight on their ideas. Overall, the SIPO conference was truly an uplifting experience and I am honoured to have received the opportunity to attend it. I am definitely motivated to pursue my dreams and take on life with a new perspective.”
